Well, it all started last week when I finally discovered and got a reliable answer that my cam chain needed replacing. A common problem on my X10XE engine, Z10XE and the 1.2 versions.
warren.g said he could do it for a bargain price, despite my 200 mile round trip to get it down (not a lot of miles Whittie, I know ) but still, for a repair you could get done anywhere it is a fair shunt.
Anyway, it was well worth it (albeit arriving far too early) and the car is running lovely now.
Checking oil

Checking tyre pressure - bike track pump. Few extra PSI to help me go quicker not.

Just leaving - I needed to be there by 7pm. 5 hours to do 100 miles in my defence, I had to travel on one of the shittiest bits of the M25.

Lorry carrying a lorry in the most bizarre way.

Sitting at the Medway services on the M2. I got there at 3.30pm. I was 16 miles from Warren's specking my car with Dblias stuff, with tea and Trebor Softmints.

Leaving the services - temperature increase!

Just got to Warren's.

Rocker cover off. Spangly.

Reconnecting the timing chain.

All back together. Purring away.

Home.

Flies this morning (phone camera)

Shitty pics and not much of a story, but I had to help Warren with a few bits.
Thanks again to Warren, I'll hopefully now have trouble free motoring and no diesel sounding 12v.
You can get back to what ever you were reading before

Yup. Funky shizzle tools from Vauxhall. In short, you join the new chain to the old one, feed it through the engine, disconnect, then connect together the new chain. Vauxhall allow 1.5 hours apparently.
The mechanic I always go to says that it was an engine out job

Sitting in services drinking tea, reading a mag was better than sitting in traffic, sweating my bollox off, needing a wee imho.

Makes my 200 sound like a piece of cake.
That Vauxhall quote is a bit odd Planty. Warren said they allow 1.5 hours labour + parts + VAT will never equal £500. Unless the dealership doesn't know how to do cam chains
Fro - I'm sorry, wish I had now. You could have shown me round the South East Hood.

I think they were going to do tensioners and all sorts, which I'm lead to believe means stripping the engine down alot more than just changing the chain but seems un-needed since having just the chain changed has fixed the problem. One garage even wated to take the engine out to do it crazy
Thanks again warren
