How much has your xe conversion cost you, and do you think it was worth it?

£1000 all in.

And no, coz it's unreliable as fuck!!! I've replaced allsorts, and it still doesn't want to play ball. Sometimes it runs sweet as a nut, others it won't even start.

Fanttastic fun when it works properly though

Defiantely worth it. The reliability issues are only encountered by people who want to do it on the cheap. Remember they are old engines so they should be re-built before they are fitted.

well I had mine rebuilt but still had issues but TBH I couldnt avoid them.

One was a head bolt being pulled in the bottom left of the head which is common, had to have that sorted out.

Uh what else... i had a funny injector which maade it an ill smokey and I never had them cleaned from the start.

Trying to think what else, one of the seals was leaking whichi replaced twice, was reccomended to use instant gasket but didnt fancy it.

you'll hear from people who bought an engine for £400 and had no problems, and you'll get people like me who spent £1k and had one or two problems.

I think converting it to head studs is a pretty good idea. I'm doing that to mine before it goes back in as the bolt popped out on it. Such a shit design

i had a few problems when i 1st bought my car but they have all been sorted. and you just have to stay on top of problems and fix them before they get serious. well worth it when you plant your right foot.

Cost me about 1500 I think.

Can be annoying but so much easier to work on than the 1600 and alot more fun

Main point is to make sure you have a decent engine.

Budget about £1500 quid all in. Best money i spent and if i could would love to do it again. Wjho knows.

If you are gonna do it then do it. Be prepared for a few niddles though - but if you get it done by a decent place (DCMS) then your laughing.

They charged me £780 for mine. That included a full powerflow system with 3 boxes in. Also they fitted my coilovers and set them up for me and there was a few bits and pieces that i needed as well. A fair price i think and the standard of the work is.........................

.................well judge for yourself.

p.s any excuse to put picys in a thread and i will.

No, i supplyed everything. The price i was charged was

£500 for fitting it all
£250 for full system custom made
£20 or so for bits and bobs.

I got the engine, mounts, shafts, brakes, loom, gearbox and coilovers all myself from people off here.
