Is it really worth this much? Current bid at £5,300 and reserve not met. Does look like a good fun car. How much were these new ?

Does look quality for a 106.

ECU sits in the engine bay on the standard car so not really that strange, same as most french cars, bet that goes well with that kind of power

Nice car... good power, looks nice...
But over priced imo.
They were like 13k ish new I believe. so 2003 isn't that old. but still, I wouldn't pay £5,300 for it.
To be fair, it'll be quicker than CTR, 182 etc. but I'd still only want to pay like £4000 tops for it.

My car wouldn't be much slower than that, and probably handle better - and I'd not want £5k for mine

Best off looking for a cheaper standard one then and adding the bits. Really impressed with the power its making though!
Cheers for the reply.

For the amount it'd cost you to get 173 bhp, it'd probably cost you about the same as that car
I don't know... Standard car for say £2500?
Then TB's, Cam's, pugsport, mani, Standalone ECU and remap for £1800-2000 if your lucky?
but then you also have to upgrade brakes (bigger, better pads), suspension (bilstein sprintline shocks / coilovers, springs).
Basically, the car 'IS' worth £5300 when you add up all the bits, age of car, mileage etc... But I personally don't think it's worth £5300 2nd hand (if you understand what I mean).
Just buy a standard one, and cam it (leave the TB's) or just buy one already done like mine.

I see what you mean. Going to go for a test drive of one soon. Got quite a few ideas for my next car, too many actually.
Going to try and test drive them all, will be able so see then what i want.
Its either: 106 GTI, starlet/galanza turbo, mk4 astra (GSi turbo replica), civic vti or ill stick with the corsa gsi ive got now and fit a bigger engine as ive just been offered an XE thats been converted into a LET for £400!
Descisions descisions..
Thanks for your help tho.

I think we should discuss why Rallyes are better to be honest.

Rallye's are slower than 106 gti's - they only have 8v engine's
Get a 106 gti!
my 106 gti is quicker than 2.0 XE's - and a LET would just be wheel spin central in the bends.

Throttle Bodies... - I understand that it makes it a lot quicker but don't they idle really badly? and it costs a shit load more on fuel???

not really no, if balanced and mapped properly they can have just as good of an idle as standard, and they also return a good mpg on a run
