the original is by FAR the best, and much more so than the poor attempt of a modern day equivalent...

the film was just a publicity stunt to sell the toys, basically one big long advert. the tv series was miles better.

No it really wasn't.

Granted you can't beat the original cartoon but the original film was gash.

thats kind of obvious, its the same with most kids programs. what i was trying to say was that after a couple of seasons the toys weren't selling very well so they brought the movie out with a massive list of new charactors and killed off some of the originals. the movie was just an advert for all the new toys they were making.

No it really wasn't.

Granted you can't beat the original cartoon but the original film was gash.

The UK cut of the original had a 30 dialogue at the beginning to bring you up to speed if you didn't know what the crack was.

Far better than the 'In the beginning, there was the Cube!' which just sounded silly, you can get away with shit like that on a cartoon but not in a $200M movie!

Original film was far better as 22 years after it came out people still talk about it, no-one will remember this film in 22 months.

Original had a much better story, the new one didn't really have one, more of a cross between Herbie and Terminator 3 with a bit of American Pie and the standard hot babe falls for the geek she never noticed before plot rolled into 1.

In the new film they killed off Megatron & Cybertron!

Original film had 100's of Transformers in it, set over several planets this one had about 7 set in 1 city.

Original had a quality soundtrack plus a music score by Vince DiCola who did the music to Rocky 4 (Training Montage - Awesome!). Soundtrack to the new one is awful, theme tune is as bland as you like.

New film is full of tedious product placement, none of that in the original.

Original had Orson Wells & Judd Nelson from the Breakfast Club in it!
ar old
If they'd made a film version of the 1985 original then that would have been ace, regardless of whether or not you liked the new one you can't deny that it could have been so much better

Yes but disregarding all those wonderful things the fact remains the original was rubbish and the new 1 is good.
