I did the same and regret it, I'd have 3 years NCB now, not 1.

Same. I earned my own NCB on my parents Direct Line policy.

Easy way to look at it is you'll have a car and insurance for life. Start at the expensive bit for 3 years, you aren't really going to lose out.

I didn't get a car when I was 17 or 18 really. Got my own car towards my 19th birthday for Uni. Unfortunately had a crash this year so won't gain NCB, but when I leave Uni I'll hopefully have a few years

I had my own insurance from 17, i turn 21 in august and get my 4th year no claims in april, then ill be laughing!

Can anyone tell me which insurers allow you if you have fully comp insurance to drive any other car third party and are thier any stipulations.

Ive thought about insuring a 1.2 corsa fully comp then driving what i please, is this possible?

Went on my dads policy as a named driver when I passed at 19 Just got my own policy at the last renewal when I was 21. To be fair it was only £640 with 0NCB on my old 1.4 8v B, went up a bit for the C though now about £800

1NCB in December

I'm with Direct line to. When i was 17 i was in full time education and working part time so never really had the money to pay for my car aswell so i went on my dads name for the first 2 yrs, its now my 4th year in october and because its direct line they class it as my own NCB now when i switched to my own policy!

Only shit thing is if i leave direct line i wont have 4yrs NCB will i, will only be 2? Or can I leave them and keep the 4yrs NCB?

I paid 1400 on my first car (12v Corsa) at 17, this was only TPFT but it was worth it, as the next year it dropped to 700 odd, then I sold it and insured the ibiza for £700 fully comp, and I have 3yrs NCB
