I know everyone says how unreliable they are etc but are they really that bad?
Still after buying an E46 M3 but someone at work has a tuscan and im tempted also.......

Only thing is i prefer the m3 as its got more seats and more of a chill out car but the noise of the tvr is

I was going to purchase a T350C but a change in personal circumstances is currently preventing it
Go for the TVR and just do what I did, buy an everyday car as well

Stu had to have the engine rebuilt soon after buying it iirc £££££ppppppp
IMO if you can budget the cost of a fucked engine ontop of the buying cost get the TVR, otherwise play safe with a BMW.

M3 is hardly budget vehicle of the year, they're going both to cost a lot. A lot depends on where you are going to keep it and what you are using it for. I would imagine that the M3 is still a tiny bit practical, more seats etc. and a boot for DIY supplies. TVR would be a nightmare for anything other than just driving around posing.

Yeah Ive got a Red Rose Tuscan, great car but as people have said they "can" be unreliable! As long as you get one with an engine rebuild by one of the top players (Craft, TVR Power etc) after 2005 you shouldnt have too many problems. Apart from the weak early engines problems are usually niggles that are easily fixed!
The M3 and the TVR are two very different cars - Depends what you want really I suppose? I love my TVR, you just never get bored of the power or the noise! As said, mine needed an engine rebuild (worn oil stem seals) a few months back with a few extra toys added and since then it hasnt missed a beat in 3000 miles! No other car on the road that gives you that sort of performance for the money (60 in 3.7 and 100 in 8!)
Just make sure you keep a contingency fund incase anything does break but also bear in mind that M3's arent bulletproof (there have been a lot of engine failures) and when they break they cost a LOT more to put right!

As Stu said you never get bored of the TVR sound; i went from the 321BHP M roadster to the chimera and the difference in power and driving is something else; gets so much more attention and fun to drive than the M.
Running costs on a daily bases is a hell of a lot different tho; services i found generally more needed doing and dont expect a great deal more than 15MPG! I must admit i was a bit worried about going to far in the TVR because of the reliability issues, but you soon get over that.
It all depends on what you want the car for really.
