...to sell my car and purchase a Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi which is 10 years older for a similar price

I just love them, always have and always will I think. The only thing troubling me is my corsa runs a charm, no problems and if there is any they can ironed out easy - it'll just be a sensor now a 205, 10 years old is going to be a lot more unreliable so please talk me out of it.

Only reason to be honest is power, it's only a 1.2 16v. I do sort of fancy something a bit more powerful now... had it 3 years

AK I've been looking at a nice clean one, so tempted!

vx.racing, can't be doing with a conversion - dont have the time to do it myself and don't fancy a conversion, always seems to end up riddled with problems.

sam, the only thing that went wrong with my x16xe conversion was i needed new drive shaft seals, apart from that *touch wood* its been perfect and loads of fun !

the 205 gti is a beast of a car, boody quick if your used to a 1.2...if you can find a clean, lower millage example do it, you only live once and you will have some raw fun in one

No it wasnt an assumption.
A mate had a really clean one looked brand new, fresh rims, exhaust on it and looked after it well.
Just had loads of problems with after around 6months of owning it even tho it was his cruise and weekend car.

I dont like French cars in genural tho.
Build quality seems very shocking.

But i can understand why you would want to get something a bit more powerful tho

Cheers for that

I suppose that's what I'm worried about, it's older and more powerful so it's not like it won't get given death a few times... not sure if I can be doing with problems in the engine .etc

I have to agree with the above..

My brothers mate had one red gti was really clean not a touch of rust anywere and had 70k on the clock was a brillaint example..

He went from a 2000 reg scooby to one and he said it was a massive downgrade just the overall Interior and the way it felt(Flimsy)

Think he replaced the Gearbox 3 times over 7months and the clutch was a few times aswell...they a really quick cars and handle really well but if you want something fun then get that but if you want something thats an allrounder then look at something else IMHO
