After 7 years away from the sport I'm now back, with a bang
Just gone out and purchased my new ride, a Giant ATX-1 DH which I piloted all those years ago!
Pretty well spec'd up, Rockshox Boxxers, Hope biguns/4 pots etc - already ordered all the armour, helmet, googles with tear offs, pants and jersey
Wish me luck, going to be entering some races in the next couple of weeks, hopefully next year I'll be flying again and doing well in the National Champs like I was before
Anyone else into it? Pics of the bike and kit coming tomorrow

Used to do trials riding and dirt jumping, but sold up a while back when I moved to Manc.
Wouldnt mind getting back into it when I move back out of the city and nearer some decent places again.

With Aspley Woods on my doorstep I used to go every day, used to ride slalom and jumps but the lads I went with stopped going for various reasons and I grew tired of going alone on wet days.
I will return some day

I tried the same after 7-10 years out after doing semi pro freestyle bmx.
My body couldn't take the knocks and the brain kept thinking about paying the mortgage.

Have had a few Kona's years ago, currently have a Cindercone too. This Giant cost over 4k new! I spent about that on my first ATX-1 then sold it to mod my Corsa, now we ARE talking old skool

Sounds like you've done well where'd you get your stickers from, I've had no luck sourcing new Norco ones, think I may get some custom ones made up but ideally wanted to keep it original.

I had some made up, the bike's been resprayed black (usually yellow/red/blue aka giant team colours), the boxxers are black too and rear swing arm is polished. Gone for Silver stickers in the standard font, silver/grey pants/jersey/goggles with a white/red/black helmet - will look like Knight Rider on a bike

My ex used to be third best in the UK for his age at downhill.
Then he snapped his elbow and got lazy.

How long ago Bex, what was his name? I knew a lot of people around 1998-2001 when I raced in the Pedalhounds, Sams, National Champs etc was pretty handy back then!

This thread enthused me to find the one and only pic of me and my bmx on the interweb....circa 1982 when one handed arials were 'the' trick to pull off and fluffy hairdo's were acceptable (its not a perm btw )

I've just been to France downhilling. I was initially bit of an XC dude, but got into more freeriding.
Have been riding a Cove Hustler kitted up for general riding, but in France, I treated myself to a Specialized Demo 7. The perfect bike for me as I'm not exactly heavy and it was in a size small. They didn't import the Demo 7 this year, so could potentially be one of its kind in the UK.
I live about 15mins drive (if that) from Chicksands - you've probably seen it in MBUK. Got a national 4x course, dual course, downhill type course, loads of shore/ladder drops and a bomb hole/play area.
I might try an organise a CS meet for the bikers at the woods
Pictures from France here:

Cove Hustler is the silver bike with air rear shock, Demo 7 the one with green on it.
