Specialist performance car manufacturer MG Sport & Racing is revealing an XPOWER concept version of the best-selling MG ZR, called the MG XPOWER ZR-X, alongside the dramatic new MG XPOWER SV-R super sports car, and the Bonneville ZT-T – the fastest estate car in the world – at the Birmingham Motor Show at the National Exhibition Centre which runs from May 27-June 6, 2004.
Using their extensive competition experience, MG Sport & Racing engineers have taken the standard ZR and given it a thorough makeover to produce a really distinctive sporting hatchback. With more power than the standard ZR, lowered suspension, distinctive five spoke 18" diameter wheels, aerodynamic improvements and a host of bespoke MG XPOWER interior and exterior modifications, the ZR-X shows what the first of a complete range of MG XPOWER cars could look like. Prices and anticipated delivery dates will be announced in due course.

The Birmingham Show also marks the UK debut of the 385hp version of the MG XPOWER SV – the SV-R. The extra performance comes from a 5.0-litre MG XPOWER version of the all aluminium, 32-valve, double-overhead camshaft V8 engine. Built in conjunction with V8 tuning specialist Sean Hyland the car accelerates from standstill to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds. Top speed is circa 175 mph. The extra engine capacity also gives a significant increase in torque from 410Nm to 510 Nm at 4750 rpm for shattering mid-range performance.

To keep the extra power under control, the SV-R is fitted with larger diameter Brembo brake discs, identified by their red brake callipers. Naturally the SV-R retains all the best features of the entry level SV, including the lightweight and high strength carbon fibre body shell, double wishbone F1-inspired long-arm suspension, unique tracker and remote diagnostic telemetry and full harness inertia seat belts.

Customers can choose from a wide variety of options allowing them to tailor the car to their own requirements, including a range of seven interior and forty exterior colours, many of which are as dramatic as the car itself. UK prices start from:

MG XPOWER SV £65,750
MG XPOWER SV-R £82,950

Still looks gay.

Just hope the performance makes up for it.

Oh, and its still a ROVER, no matter what gay bumpers you add to it.

lol I'm not going to buy it. Definitely can't afford it and not even looking for a new car. Just had seen it a few times and wondered what it was.

I know it's probably a great car to drive, but for £8995 I'd probably want something a bit 'better'.

That won't sell in Biggleswade. No fucker will know anything about it.

I see what you mean, but no reason why it shouldn't be genuine. The garage where it is isn't exactly dodgy either.
