buying a cheap mk1 or mk2 golf as a project in the next few months.
is there any owners clubs out there cant find 1
i am expecting rust but is there anywhere in particular to look for?
(please dont say everywhere)

Mk2 wont be as rusty, but cheaper ones will be rusty... Usual places to check are front of back arches, battery tray, bulkhead behind manifold..
If you want a good one then you will need to spend 2k upwards...

Wouldnt bother with a cheap one as it will be a money pitt, your better buying a good one thats been well maintained & had the money spent over the years.

cheers lads. the reason i was thinkin a cheaper one is i aint too bothered about it not seein the road any time soon. too much rust would be a pain in the arse tho.

Seriously it stands me at about 1200 & its got tones of new bits so im not 'letting it go' if you want it its on my terms.....surely you can understand that im not all that arsed about selling it

i had a mk2 golf and it was well looked after and not 1 bit of rust on the full car. All depends on what sort of money you spend on one!
