And the result is......
EGR valve. My car failed it's MOT a few months ago and one of the failures was the EGR valve. The mechanic just cleaned it up - he steeped it in something over the weekend - and the car passed the MOT the next day. The engine management light never went out, but not I'm considering selling so I thought I would find out what the problem was.
What effect would a damage EGR vavle have when driving? I don't really notice anything different from normal, but then, it may have always been like that.
I now need to look around for some prices. Does anyone recommend anywhere?

Around 125quid for a egr valve! And you may need a new gasket to! ive been having same problems matey!

well mine woundnt start when my egr vavle went, wounldnt even turn over. Well worth the money for a new 1 then hahahahahahahaha
