I just rang the university in Spain and spoke to the guy in charge of the course I want to do, cleared up all the doubts and questions I had, went through my application form with him and he said that so long as I have all the paperwork to go with it (which I do) then I will be accepted.
This means I am now definately leaving the country in the middle of September, and term starts on the 26th! I found a forum online for exchange students in La Coruña about 3 months ago and found some people to live with, they all met up last week and found a place (One spanish guy, one Spanish girl, and one French girl, they were all a lot closer than me so i trusted them to find a place without me ) so ive got the accomodation sorted out already, and its only about £23 a week rent!
After talking to the guy i will be living with, apparently there are almost no english people at all there, quite a lot of french and a few americans, so he's really excited about living with a real english person Im also looking forward to not talking english for a few months, should be good fun!

Apparently that's the best way to learn though being put right into the deep end kind of thing.

Wow what a fantastic opportunity for you! You're going to have such an amazing time/experience!

Aye, it did me so much good when I went out there in jan on my own, mainly in terms of confidence and inhibitions, because I HAD to talk Spanish to everyone. Loved it though, so 10 months of doing the same sounds great to me

My sister lived in Rome for a year when she did Italian and Business at Uni and came back perfectly fluent. Def the best way to learn it.

Nope, its going to be too much hassle to get it registered over there (cos ill be there more than 6 months) cos the spanish IVA is a lot tougher than our MOT when it comes to mods. I _may_ drive over there for a holiday when ive finished, but I think the car will jsut be garaged at my mum's place while im away, then I can have a mini xmas present to myself by driving it at christmas It will be good to have to walk everywhere again too, instead of relying on the car and getting lazy. First time ive driven it for a week today!

Yeah I'm doing a Spanish degree, year abroad is compulsuory either ERASMUS exchange, teaching with the british council, work placement, or independent student, which is whatI went for. I will be doing a full year out there, doing the same amount of work the normal students do, basically living as a Spaniard for a year, but with a personal tutor assigned in case of any problems. Im going to be doing mainly a Philology degree (ie the study of language itself) but will be taking a few Spanish literature modules too to get the right number of credits for the year.

La Coruña in Galicia, North West.
It's "C" on that map, the 4 areas Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and Pontevedra all make up the region of Galicia as a whole.

Quite a different culture to the south of Spain, much more of a Celtic background than an Arabic one. The Gallego accent is so much easier to understand than the Andalucian one which is a bit of a bonus for me, plus the fact that its very un-touristy along with a severe lack of english people means I should be getting a lot of practice in
