I was smoking 10 a day for about 4 1/2 years. Went to the shops to get some fags one day, got there, did the shopping and forgot the fags, realised when I got home and then thought why not just give up? So I did.
My mates recommended me the allen carr book even after id stopped, just so i wouldnt get any cravings, and its been really easy to be fair, its all in the mind. I had 1 on NYE, 6 in Spain in Jan one night when I was hammered, but apart from that, not had any since I gave up in November. Good luck with it though, its one of the best life decisions ive ever made, Im so much healthier and I dont stink like a fucking ash tray now either, its not untul you;ve given up for a while that you realise just how bad smokers smell.

nicotine is more addictive than heroin though. thats gram for gram, obviously u dont take in anywhere near as much nicotine when u have a fag as when u shoot up tho

I've heard the patches can be a good help.

I've never smoked myself but my mom used to smoke 15-20 for as long as i can remember (probabaly forever). She was the last person you'd ever except to be able to quit and lots of times she even said she didnt want to. Then just one day because of health problems she decided she'd quit and she got some patches.

Shes never smoked a single one since that day. No one in my family could believe shed quit .

Must be decent if they helped her IMO.
