On a c16xe, with otherwise standard internals. What sort of profile would you recommend without a remap and standard rev limit?
278 Deg duration with 11.04mm valve lift? Prob wouldn't kick in until 3000rpm, but that would be ok? Ideas?

Nope.
264deg are the MAX you can have without removing the pistons and deepening the valve pockets.
Tbh, cams are pointless with a std map/rev limit. Higher duration/lift cams will move the power band higher, which is not much use if your limited to about 6.5k rpm.

not true, we have designed a cam with 270+ duration but with less lift. its not just the duration but also the lift you need to take into account when deciding what will fit.

I was referring the normal cam choices(kent etc)
Increasing the duration, but decreasing the lift, any ideas how much of a gain at all you'll see over say a 264deg duration?

its minimal really as the increased duration also gives more overlap.

I wouldn't bother with cams unless I was going for something really lairy with a different injection system and massive valve pockets in the pistons, then, and only then, would I bother TBH.

I have some kent 244s in mine, there completely pointless, lol.
Only worth buying a set with decent duration/lift, and id get the pistons done(can get them pocketed for £50)

I see That makes more sense now.
If you've got your heart set on them, Newman, Kent, Piper and Cat all do them for the X16XE, which have less than 264 deg duration and which will fit fine.
You will NEED a GOOD remap though, not just a superchip.

Should make good power imo. As an alternator to tb's.
The key is a good map.
