Last night went and saw this 172 http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/181698.htm

Looks mint in real and sounds amazing. The only thing is I have never driven a clio sport so not sure what to expect. I found the suspension is quite stiff is this with all clio sports? Also the clutch is quite hard but i do drive a 1.2 corsa so maybe because its a sports its meant to be. maybe i'd get used to it.

Also I found that sometimes when idling ithe car would shake a bit?? could be the exhaust.

I do love it but I just have a feeling i may get lots of little problems. Thats with all clio sports. am i right in feeling this?? Do bits break easily?

Also having a full system, does this use up more petrol? Another thing bit worried about. I dont do more than 170miles a week but its all town driving. I wont rag it everywhere but is like 40 quid a week alot?

Any input much appreciated as im bit clueless.

I am going to look at 206 gti 180 aswell

BTW i have posted in clio forums before anyone asks. Just wanted to know on here as some ppl have had them and i do love this forum

£40 a week for what? Petrol? hope not my 106 is a smaller engine for sure but i drive like a twat and can get away with £25 a week, and mine has been modded a little.

Frence cars are a little fragile but if looked after and serviced should be ok.

any modes such as exhausts and filers will make the car use a little more fuel but you prob wont tell really.

And the Clio really is a better drive and car really than the pug ur looking at

they all have a little unsteady idle, jus tthe way they are, and the clutchs on them are very stiff for a small standard car.

suspension wise, they are track biased really so its not the comfyest of fides, i have eibach springs on mine and its firm but comfy. fuel wise i do about 300-350 to a tank in mine (172 cup)

the 17" wheels wont be helping at all!

parts for them are expencive, i.e. i need a cup172 badge for mine, its £25! a cup front splitter is in the regon of £80, few common problems, but easy fixes. cliosport.net is a good forum to use.

I had a 17poo and it was no end of troubles. It was a low mileage (8k) 02 plate. Its gearbox went, its driveshaft went not to mention little squeaks and knocks. I did love the car, but it was trouble.
I do have friends that have had no problems with theirs though, so mine might have just been a bad one.
The clutch and suspension will be harder then your corsa, but it wont take long to get used to.
I think the clio is the better performance car then the 180 - but thats just my opinion!

Had my 182 from new. Never had a problem. Only been to Renault for a service.

Ride is quite hard on Cup suspension.

Clutch not heavy at all.

Make sure you choose a good one as many will have had a tough life.
