For the motorways, get a BMW.

If you find an audi a3 1.8T with under 80K on the clock you're onto a winner.

As for a VW Golf, you would get a mk4 with high mileage, but not a GTi, you could get a clean example of a Mk3 GTi though, try edition38, i was looking at one on there?

Also what about a corsa 1.8 SRi?

bearing in mind fuel costs arent the problem, more the ride quality and noise levels

Nope; i bought one for £3600; has 99K on the clock but full honda history, just spent £200 on reconditioned wheels as they had corroded and £100 havin front bumper blown over as had a few stone chips (no more than any other car of the age) and now have a mint ATR that i have done 2000miles in so far and not missed a beat

Nice choice mate!!

Looks like it has all the toys inside They do look abit drab in normal form outside, but once they have a Mtech kit on they really stand out!

Whereabouts are you based? I could come have a look at it with you if you like? I will give you a quick list of common E36 problems to look out for on MSN if you remind me later
