this is gettin beyond a joke now, trying to put a c16xe back into jacko's old car. easy you say? would be if i could get this bloody gearbox mounting sorted.
the mounting that came with the engine(out of a gsi) is too long,so sits underneath the mounting on the car its going in.got another one of gary(cheers mate) but this seems too long aswell.
im getting to the point where i dont know what to do,and am seriously thinking of jackin it in,and selling it on as it is,but i dont like things beating me,especially something so stupid as a gearbox mounting.
i think the mountings i have are both wrong(maybe IM wrong),i thing the mount should look something like the engine mounting(see pics below) as this looks alot closer to the sort of size the mounting should be.

gearbox mounting supposed to fit:

gearbox mounting on car:

engine mounting:

both mountings i have tried:

if anybody could shed some light on what the hell im doin wrong, i would hugely appreciate it.

cheers Ryan

the problem is mate, the c16xe that came out was from a gsi, where the front gearbox mounting rubber is situated slightly lower and further back than the one on my car,so the mounting i have here would fit, i just cant see what else it could be! cheers for the reply

No, the metal bit.

The pre and post 97 rubber bits are different, the post ones are inside the chassis leg IIRC, so the mount (metal) is longer.

I think, the chances are the metal bit from a pre-97 car is shorter and will fit.
