I have a cheap air filter/induction kit if it even deserves to be called that, and i have found that it is terriable at low revs when you give it some throttle - nothing happens untill 3.5k revs even with foot to floor! It has huge flat spots. So i thought i would get a standard box to stop this but it is a pain in the arse trying to get one! So was looking at these CDA filters (or replica's). The thing that baffles me is my mate has a cheap cone filter (like open ended with one cone inside another) and it doesnt flat spot at all on his 8v engine
Is it just the 16v engines dont work with these kits?? (1996 1.4 sport)
Do the BMC or BMC style filters have flat spots at low revs or do they pick up as a standard box does?
Any help or info on this matter is greatfully wanted as it is a pain in the arse!
Thankyou please

I just got one, much better imo. If you can afford it then its certainly worth it, if not theres nothing wrong with a panel filter, can't go wrong for £35!

I had a genuine BMC on my sport and it didnt feel like it had flat spots, and it sounded very nice. Hoping to get some piping to it fits the XE as the one on it at the mo is a hot air magnet

Yes, you can get them with a sleeve or get one made up so they fit.

right so a BMC stlye box is better than a standard box? Ive got my own opinions on alot of this induction debate, but it throws me out with my car - cheap kits on my car dont work but do on other peoples

Cheap kits are a no no imo. If you lived closer I'd let you try my BMC as its just laying around not getting used at the mo.

Since when has it been £200? Like fro and Fruitbooter said, you can get them much cheaper. About £140 delivered and probably cheaper if you shop around. I would much rather have a proven and recognised filter than some unknown ebay tack

Ah, i thought they were more. Swear someone said they were £200.
Anyway, air filter mods are never going to give you much unless you ditch the inlet manifold and get throttle bodies.
I bet you people that spend £££ on air filters have cheap tackky alloys

Doubt it because people who will spend the big money - viper or CDA etc will know what they are on about performance wise so....
