Just what was the specs of these cars ? first ly the weight of each model and the Bhp?
so there is the Golf:
GTI 8v
GTI 16v
Golf Rally ?
and the G60 ??
So as above whats the power and weight of each of these cars and what they like to drive in comparison to todays cars such as the VTS,Corsa GSi ect?

Golf G60 - 160bhp, 1077kg, LHD only, FWD

Thats great guys yhanks dint think the rally and the G60 where onlty LHD shame... alto i did see a loverly black on today with BBS wheels. id love one.
Anybody got any pics of any of the above cars?

Ive got a 1991 GTi 8v in Black. Its a hoot to drive, I love it

You can get big bumper 8vs and G60s too, just to confuse things

i would so love one but i dont want to get rid of my 106 gti and find there loads slower.
What about the 2000 1.6 16v polo GTI? what does everyone think of them?
i know there 125Bhp but how much they weigh?

also are the GTIs in the pic above the extra special G60 versions with the blue pinstrip grill the 212Bhp versions where they not like onlt 20 or so made?

The one with a blue stripe is a G60 limited, I only used that pic as the normal G60 looks the same as the big bumper GTi.
Not sure how much power they had though, but there's one on ebay at the moment which is the only one officially imported into the country.

8v's a bit sluggish but still plenty usable power, id expect a good 16v to be on par with your 106.
I like 6n2 polo gti's, think a good Mk2 would be nicer though.

I would love to build a VR6, theres a silver 90 spec Mk2 on the local site I bought mine off for just £200, gearbox is fucked it would be ideal for a conversion, faither says no though.im not allowed another car left on his drive

The G60 Limited was 212 Bhp and 214 Nm torque.
25k when new and im thinking you would prob pay almost that now

Yay, I get to post a pic of my wee baby.. again.. lol. Mine was a 2 litre tall block audi 8v with headwork, 4 branch and loads of othe rgoodies..

It was pretty much the same... same mounts etc, still used the original box..
Mine had a 286 cam (I think it was 286), vernier and some other stuff... torque was amazing and it had the coolest tickover ever!!! Didnt go much better than a bogo 8v but it used to pull them in mid 3rd gear something stupid...
You can get better power from the short blocks I've heard but it was kinda cool having the tall block just to be different..
