Some of you will know that I've got a bit of a reputation for being a bit of a car addict.. well this week I decided to pull my finger out my arse and get job hunting..
I'm in a crap job just now with crap prospects so went online and applied for a few jobs..
Got a phone call tonight from my local Vauxhall Dealership wanting me to go in for an interview on Friday.
The job is as a Car Salesman and it would suit me perfectly..
Any advioce from people doing the same, or just general advice... interview is with the Sales Manager and General Manager, spoke to the sales guy on the phone and e seams pretty down to earth..

look smart, shake his (or their) hands when you enter confidently, keep eye contact when they are talking and when your speaking (not in a strange stalking stare type of way though) and dont fidget with your hands whilst your sat there.
And good luck

First impressions are everything, so as said, walk in with an air of confidence and give them a good firm handshake. Always keep eye contact. Speak in a confident tone, try not to erm, mm, ehh alot. Go in looking sharp.

Do you like the job?? What sort of basic pay/commision should I expect if I get that far.. I've not asked because I think its the cheekiest question you can ask a possible future employer, always found it better to wait for the job offer.. lol

Yeah I really enjoy the job because I like selling.
I'm currently on a basic wage of minimum wage and then commission on top of that. I also get a company car and fuel.
I'm changing because of a commission re-structure that I wasn't happy with at my current employment.
Commission wise it's different from garage to garage. Normally you make £x per car then more £ with extras etc.
Money wise the sky's the limit, it just depends how much you sell.
I've always asked how much I'd get as a basic and how the commission works. I've always waited for them to ask if I have any questions then I find out.

Didnt expect the basic to be much but it wouldnt be far off what I'm earning just now.. Liek you say its what you sell that makes the cash.. I liek selling cars in my own time so I dont see why this should be any different for me.
Company car would be a bonus aswell, will have to wait and see.. Sicky tomorow to go and buy a new shirt and tie.. lol

As a saleperson you need to be friendly and approachable, so a nice smile and the ability to hold good conversation with your interviewer is essential
good luck!
