I applied for my bank charges to be refunded for the statements that I could find, the total amount of charges I could find on those statements equalled £361 quid, not a great deal of money but they were my most recent statements and I'm a great deal better with money these days.

Anyway, I sent the letter away in April and hadn't heard anything. Today I get home and have a letter from HSBC saying they shall be refunding me my charges to the total of...wait for it.........£1571.62

How fucking ace is that

you calculated £361 quid, but the gave you £1500ish back? Why?

A friend was owed £1800 by HSBC and they offered back £1500, which he accepted.
Have I missed something? Or did the statements you couldnt find equal hell of alot more?

If worst comes to worst switch to Halifax, assuming you already don't bank with them, as they change your DD's for you.

I could only find 2 years of bank statements, I knew I was owed more from when I was a youth with a highly modified car and a expensive girlfriend but as I couldn't find the statements I just went ahead with what I could find which was £361, the review department at HSBC obviously calculated what I was owed over the last 6 years rather than 2 years and came back to me with the higher amount.

I have to send back a form to confirm what they are offering is acceptable then thats the end of it. I don't need to change bank accounts and they aren't closing my account.

lloyds refused my sisters request. The letter said the charges were fully justified and would not be refunding any charges.
