type solenoid or boot popper in the search bar on ebay or google.
you'll get loads of products come up
the colour match was so good because he took his time and either used a compressor or got it profesionlly resprayed key words being ''took his time''

when you unlock the car, the boot unlocks
think it needs the lock to be in the horizontal position rather than vertical iirc

That is a solenoid, when a current is passed through it, the electromegnet inside pushes the shaft in the center out, or pulls it back, depending on which way the + and - are connected.
One of these is connected to the boot locking mechanism and a switch is put in the dash or somwhere that lets the current run to it.
Some people put them on thier rear wiper postive so when the wiper stalk is pushed back it pops the boot.

Mine opens using the rear wiper, pops once to unlock but has a second pop to re-lock it incase you open it while driving so it doesn't fly up lol

any gd bodyshop would do that for around £200 painted mate, as for the opening, u can either wire to a button or just use a metal bar over ya parcel shelf
