I want some team dynamics pro race and my mate has some cheap and are right size wise in every way. However the profile is 50 instead of 45; what effect will this have on the car and are they a suitable choice or should I get some 45's and be happy spending the extra money? These are 15's by the way and the car is stock at moment (if that makes a difference). Sorry if this is wrong section!! (I'm new you see )

If the car is standard, just buy the alloys and use them until the tyre's need replacing, then you can get 45's.

was thinking that; just wondering if the overall bigger diameter will effect acceleration, etc.

nah just say the clock speed being effected; this is my first car and if the speedo is out due to the tires and i get caught speeding when I wasn't, i won't be happy. If that makes any sense whatsover.

really?! I thought that as standard is 65, they dropped it by 20 as that is near enough an inch (25mm) so 50 will actually be only 15 less but the inch bigger means it's 10 mm oversize as apposed to only 5mm bigger with the 45s. I'm really waffling now

the height of the sidewall in mm has nothing to do with the profile. the profile is determined by the width of the tyre.

a 50 profile on a 215 tyre will be higher than a 50 profile on a 175 tyre

oh right; well these are 195's. Thanks for the replies; suprised how quick the replies were. Some forums don't seem to want to help at all. Nice to get info from people in the know

tbh, you should have said the wheels were for a 106 gti, you would have had twice as many replies twice as fast with 8 pages of pointless arguments which would have ended in certain members areslicking eachother about how well their french boxes on wheels handle so much better than a corsa and can beat anything round a track.

ha ha, yeah I hate all of these arguments. End of the day, when I went to rally cross, there were just as many nova's/corsas as there were saxo's/205 so everything is probably as good as the person driving it makes it.
