Im currently in the process of "handing in my notice at work"

With me being in a job where I have a compnay car, I will be without a car for a couple of months.

I have £1500 to spend, and was thinking something along the lines of a Corsa B 1.2 SXi with low mileage, as it would be cheap to run, insure for that time??

Any other recommendations, or models that have better standard equipment than SXi??

Cheers

i've come round to the way of thinking you are better off paying more than average for an older car than paying less than average for a newer car.e.g. i bought a 306 for silly cheap money but ended up costing me a fortune of money i didnt have.bought my corsa sri 8v for about the right money and hasnt put a foot wrong.even if it did i can acually afford to fix it!lol.anywho, back to the question.i think a corsa 1.2 would suit the bill perfectly, especially for the cheap insurance and fuel.

Getting hold of a 1.2 16v Club gives you power steering etc but I'm not sure what else.

If you're thinking post-97 (and for £1.5k I would hope you are) GLS came in 1.0, 1.2 and CDX 1.2 and 1.4 I think.

However, if you can find a good example of the SXi, that would be your best bet, as it's also better on looks i.e. sports seats, spoiler, alloys but you sacrifice electric windows & possibly mirrors.

http://www.parkers.co.uk has all the standard spec of the cars
