a lot of later models see 128 bhp as standard and a nice 130 lb/ft of torque, 2004> models tend to give better figures, not sure why but they have slightly different bottom end.

I am building a TB kit but the bottom end isnt looking great to use at high revs due to the long stroke, new crank will get you 2000cc. when tuned properly on TB's and cams they have produced 265 bhp with the 2000cc crank conversion.

on another note, mine is faster on the road than another car we have had in that had a dbilas inlet on it. it did make 140 bhp but lost all the midrange from fitting the dbilas. mine is standard.

but even then they only see any gains high in the revs. lose the midrange completely.

Hate to say it but N/A tuning isnt the way to go on the z18xe unless you have deep pockets. I reckon that you will see far better gains from a 1600 unless you plan on a turbo conversion or want to spend £8k+

or just fit a z20let.

we had a corsa C z20let on the rollers today, made ok power, bet its quick on the road. corsa C chassis will handle the bigger engine far better than the c20let in a corsa B.

Thats the problem with most tuning imo. I remember when I had my car on the rollers and there were some with 100bhp more than me. All that was at the top of the rev range so not really usable.

its strange you say about losing mid-range on the z18xe, on my bro's one it seems to have a lot more mid range torque! feels similar to my c20xe when you accelerate from low down...but doesn't have the same top end as mine.

My mum's is fantastic around town, it just doesn't have the same legs mine used to on the open road though.

Less torque than mine made, but it's much better delivery, so it feels quicker from slow speeds.
