Had a few mates in today with their cars so did some dyno testing with different air filter setups. Car is a totally standard but healthy corsa C 1.2 16v. All power figures are averages of 3 runs with each setup, all runs at each stage were within 0.2 bhp from eachother. Intake air tems were taken into consideration and compensation was set to standard (for those in the know about dynos) here was the results:
first setup was a totally standard airbox with no cold airfeed:

second setup was a BMC type enclosed filter with a proper cold air feed from the front bumper:

and it didnt just gain at peak power, it gained torque and BHP right through the rev range:

seen this style test done before - the best results were shown from a long induction pipe sticking out of the car with a stocking over the end of it

3.2 BHP difference, diddnt think it would give you that much power.
Would be intresting to see what sort of power gain/loss you get from an open type cone filter
