If it starts and runs, then the fuel pump primes the minute you turn the key. You can hear it on most cars.

Guess it must be a newer pump than my old one and be very quiet.
The old one you would hear "Buzzzzzzzz" when you turned the ignition on

really? What engine is she?
I tell you what, another test would be to jack up the car, turn the igntion 'on' and undo a fuel pipe. If you get a fountain of petrol then it DOES prime
p.s. dont try this at home kids

If you can start the car first time, the fuel system must prime itself.

unless the rail stayed primed from the last time it was ran.
when running, open the throttle wide - then off the ignition (the engine will slowly die) this will clear the rail.
then see if it primes

The rail must stay full of fuel as it DOES not prime.
Ive had a multi meter on the pump relay pump wire, and it doesn't go 12v with ignition. It does when cranking.
