Why didnt it have battery backup to atleast be able to run it for 1 run to get them down.

Surely if you can have an emergency generator to kick in and keep a whole hospital running (life support, etc.) you can have a simil;ar setup on a roller coaster?

Wouldnt of even needed that big a generator, as if it had gone a few more metres then gravity would of done the rest...

Must admit I was wondering why there wasn't a back up generator or some other type of contingency for this kind of senario

Maybe it was dangerous to move the cart without power as the brakes might have failed.

braking normally is, newer ones are magnetic though IIRC.
