I hate bicycles!

For £800, it is a bargain, but is a 2005 model. You'll get your years warranty with it, but all the technology on it will be old hat.
The spec isn't too bad, but find yourself another brand 2005 model, something like a Specialized and you'll get a better set up.
2005 was roundabout the changeover for Kona selling in Halfords. It kinda went all down hill from there!

My mate bought an Orange 222 for just under £2k. After everything he bought for it, he thinks he has spent about £5k and it's far toooo heavy ride now.

For the spec it is, albeit old, is a bargain.
Why buy a car worth £50,000 when you can get one for £10,000 that'll do the same job?
The same applies for a bike better quality, more comfortable, more durable etc etc

Had loads of Konas, currently got a Cinder cone can't fault them!
Here is me racing, I WAS very good at downhill racing, this was on my Giant ATX 1 monster with 8'' travel front/rear, huge hydralic discs etc

Hardcore ones that don't feel the need for body armour?! Which obviously means they're good and don't fall off.

In 5-6 years of racing I never once saw somebody wearing lycra at a downhill event. You must know some uber cool and good downhillers!

On mountain bike DVD's mainly, of a few years back. I'm sure the scene has changed a bit, but not hugely.
It is rider preference really. Like I ride downhill/freeride/dual on clipless pedals, whereas some riders where flats.
