Confused... is this safe to do?

Ive been gunking all day and not much is budging... but its getting there... btu there is gunk and stuff everywhere, is it safe to pressurewash my B's bay?

Any hints, tips ets?

cover the plugs with a plastic bag?!... keep the engine on?!
i think thats it tbh... Mine was jetwashed and itsf ine.. looks good as new! :-)

I did it on my old one, just be careful around sensor's etc. If you want to be really safe wrap the electrical bits in plastic bags. But yeah its safe if you have some common sense.

Edit - yeah as Phi said keep the engine running too.

don't touch the engine when it's running then or your hands will be burnt as fuck

no need to cover.....just start engine and pressure wash, dont stay long on a specific area....leave engine running for some 10min after washing, done

The engines cold atm anyway. Ill wrap anything important up in cling film

Just you did it on a newer engine mate... just wanted to check!

i've done it on a 1.0 12 v also...all w reg...did not cover anything, nothing wrong after it was done

on a 1.4 :

I have steam cleaned loads of vaux engine bays without a problem unless it has a dizzy then all that needs doing is to dry out hte dizzy cap as it gets condensation in it causing a misfire
I would never ever ever wash anything french again tho!

why are people saying do it with engine running? personally i always got told to do it with engine/ignition off, wether it makes much difference or not?

engine hot = water turning to steam so nothing getting into small crevices/bits of electrics etc

just a theory though so don't mock me

Use tinfoil to cover anything you don't want wet

Can mould it round anything.
