dress smart, be confident, or at least give the illusion that you're confident get a good nights sleep etc. think about what you can give the company, why you deserve the job, the more you think of the more confident you'll be in the interview.

my mate is an apprentice electrician. there was 200 people applying for 4 positions. he wore black trousers shoes and a nice shirt... the thing that impressed the judges most about him is that when he went into the room with the 4 judges he shook each of their hands and introduced himself to them all..... i would strongly suggest doing that.

yup, research the company is a good tip, and drop tailor your answers to some facts you find out.
Also keep good eye contact to the people interviewing you. Dont stare, but also dont be looking at your feet and messing with your hands when talking.

As above... research company!
I didn't and it did make an awkward 15 seconds during the interview.
Still got it though... start on the 25th!

ask questions too about what you will be doing each day lyk if u just be making coffee's or tea's each day or getting striaght in there with people watching u and telling you what to do. always gd to ask questions shows that you want to know more even the stupid ones that you think they will laugh at is gd to ask

What can you offer the company, what drives you to be sucessful in the role you are applying for, be well mannered, but dont come across as a over enthusiastic up himself moron, if the oppertunity arises for a joke which will break the ice using a few words, why not use it.
Try to let them lead you to become more comfortable with them, be relaxed, they arent there to bite you.
Research the position you are applying for, if you have any experience towards that, dont try to make it sound like you've only done that kind of thing, but you are willing or have been able to adapt to circumstances to offer solutions.
If you're naturally inquisitive mention it, same for if you are a problem solver type of person.
Look smart, think before you speak, and be well spoken, clear etc. No one wants to employ a mumbler

Yeah i'm an electrician, not a house basher though, electrical maintenance engineer. I reapiar cnc grinders, edm's and stuff around the factory.
My advice would be what others have said, dress smart, proper handshake (not one of those place your hand in someone elses), speak properly, and be yourself

Cheers everyone, hopefully ill get it, closest I've ever been to a position, most of the time I haven't even reached this stage, so we shall see.
Jimmy, if I don't get this one, I might get a sponsorship for electrical engineering from dounreay, so the future is looking bright

confidence is a must, they are always impressed if you ask some questions too about where you can go within the company, i.e. promotions etc
p,s. good luck

erm, i wouldnt mention that because it might look like you are just trying to get a qualification out of them and then do one. best bet if you get the job is to get settled in and after 12 months or so say you have been looking into future prospects of working off shoure

Wouldnt mention that, they probably loose alot of their employees to oil/gas ind once there time served. Just say your 10yr plan is to become a proven time served spark enjoying a successfull career with the council, perhaps looking to make a move into a more senior position if the oppertunity arrises.
Tell them with stuff like that & by the end of the interview you will be feeding them out of your hand!!
