yes the 8v is a bit lighter.

quote:
The cylinder head is of aluminium alloy .
The cylinder head is a special one ; the inside and outside diameters for the valve spring thrust washer housing differ from the TU5J4 cylinder head .
The hydraulic tappets are common with those of the TU5J4 engine .
The seals of the cylinder head covers are pre-formed and can be replaced in service .
The cylinder head covers, the valves, housings and spring thrust washers assembly and springs, as well as the valve seats are special ones .

The S2 Rallye has an iron block, so chances are the GTi does too, as it's the same engine with a different head, is it not?

So what else do you have in mind?

How much do you want for the wheels? I want to start a collection of wheels!

not driven the 16v but had the 1.3 8v and 1.6 rallye and the 1.3 engine was a stormer. did indeed peak at 7200rpm, with induction and zorst sounded mental, much more fun then the s2 i had.

I've driven both the S2 Rallye and the GTi, and I have to say the Rallye is much more fun to drive than the GTi.

I don't know how a rallye can be more fun????

I understand it's appeal ( rarerty etc ) but never understood why it wasn't equipped with a 16v lump as standard???
