The Van, A 1998 R reg Combo 1.7 Diesel shed Bought on e Bay for £245. It looked to be in a bit of a sorry state rust wise but it all turned out to be just surface rust. It is solid though everywhere it counts. The Roof Pod, however which was a total lost cause! Aren't they all? The bonnet was rotten as well along the front so I binned that. On the drive back from Kings Lynn it seemed to have an alarming lack of brakes as well but would stop eventually! Battery light was glowing a bit aswell and this later turned out to be a duff alternator. This was also linked to a lack of brakes as it provides a vacuum. Engine is fine and starts first turn every time even though she is just sitting about doing nothing. I have set myself the challenge of doing it up, using only new and second hand items bought from eBay.

As it was when i saw it in the eBay listing. When i came to buy it, it certainly was a case of looks better in the photo's! If you look at the second photo, you can also see where it had a fight with a Deer! Still at least it meant that it had a brand new rad just fitted. I could see that it had potential and was still a bargain.

So far

Bumper is an Irmsher item from E bay won for £60. Wheels won for £67. Check out the rustier than Titanic Roof Pod!

Mirrors for £5 off e bay sprayed with cans.

New roof going on soon. I have also obtained some Calibra brakes for £30 and a SRi Steering wheel for £19. New Alternator and Battery also fitted. I bought some eyebrows from germany for 6 pounds.

Your buying black headlights? Why?

If you were properly modifyling on a budget, you'd tint them yourself

It would indeed. Bit of a pain though as it is a diesel! I am thinking of Turbocharging it though.

Temporary roof now on. Not great but at least my van has a roof on it! Now i can leave it outside and put the SD1 back where it should be, in the Garage. The roof only cost me £20 on eBay. They now do GRP replacement ones on eBay in Black or white so i will be buying one of these. Van is at the garage now having some things done and to what it needs to get an mot. I am thinking about getting it resprayed in Orange with Black wheels. What do you think? Oh yes i forgot to say, it also has a diesel rev counter on now with blue LED's. Still getting everything cheap on eBay.

Phoned up today to see what is required for the Mot. Needs a new front shock, front brake discs look low (I have Calibra brakes already to solve this) 2 Front Tyres as they are kind of on the limit. Not too much really.
New exhaust is now on plus the better looking Sri Steering wheel. Plus just bought some chrome bonnet lifters.

I have thought about Black, but as it has no aircon it will absorb a lot of heat inside. As i will be using it to get noticed for my planned business, i need it to stand out. Hence thinking of going Orange.

Well i have a 40mm drop Jamex suspension kit on it's way, some new Toyo's, Pads for the cally brakes and the bonnet struts arrived yesterday. Can't wait to get it back now once it's got the Mot. Next thing to look out for will be some Cally black leather seats.
