Can you back that up with any actual proof? How do you know Santa Pod (The ONLY dragstrip in the country which has FIA events) isn't flat?

i think its on there website, i read it somewhere, either on there website or on something when i was actually there, that it was supposed to be the most accurate strip in england, or it was, and had the latest timing gear

So, on their own website (which will clearly be totally truthful and unbiased) they said "more accurate than santa pod"?

The FIA should probably move the European finals then, so the times are right.

cant find anything on there site, cant remember where i saw it, was back in 2003, they didnt specifically mention santa pod, just that it was the flatest in england, tbf you can see santa pod goes up and down too, looks at pics

I go there more than Santa Pod now, ever since Santa Pod started to shun the little events and go for big official ones

Go watch the Mopar Nationals at Shakey Much more entertaining.

found it

quote:
Last year a series of new software packages were installed by APIRA systems operators Wayne Schreier, Janet Nobes and Simon Day for a much quicker and safer application during race events.
Revisions included scoreboard display times, instant access to racer information for commentators, a quicker log of qualifying and ladder printouts for each class.

The PortATree computer has been tested by the MSA's [Motor Sports Association] recognised tester and is accurate to 0.001 of a second. In fact, Shakespeare County Raceway is the first UK drag strip to have such a system checked and certified.

In light of British, European and World records being set at Shakespeare County Raceway the track distance has also been measured by an independent contractor and a certificate has been issued for its accuracy.
The latest European track to join the list of PortATree users is based in Scotland at Crail Raceway. There system was installed late last year and will be run purely on a Run What You Brung basis.

steve - you have seen times have you!

I've heard about fishy times at all strips! It happens!

Pod - you say - goes up then down.... Crail isnt level... but a drag strip doesnt HAVE to be flat.... it can have some like +/- 4deg.
Crail goes up then down too.

that skyline that ran a 8.3 at pod or shakespear recently is being touted as 'dodgy'

the paper said a 1.0sec 60ft, but it didnt appear to do that....

Sometimes things happen and the rear wheels trigger the start beam instead of the front (in the case above it was thought to be exhaust smoke from a side exit exhaust, disturbing the beams)..

that would mean a moving/rolling start and less 1.5m of track to cover etc

A crisp packet flew across the track at PVS and caused the timer to clock the time

mistakes will happen
