Just found out why my car isn't running. A mate of my dad's has taken the head off the engine and found that the pistons, cams etc are f**ked . Gaskets have not been fitted right etc. He said that i look like something has fallen into the engine and it's done a lot of damage. I now need a whole new engine. The only people who have been working on my car is the tit at the garage that i used to go to. It's not the first problem now, as i've been onto trading standards and the unsafe job they did on my suspension, cracking my windscreen and scruffing my wheel.

The question now is, what engine do i get? do i just replace the X14XE or do i go for a X16XE or do i go all the way and get a 2.0l? the first two would fit no problems, but how much would i be looking at shelling out for a 2.0l and all the parts? also how much would i be looking at paying for a X16XE and what parts would i need to replace?

Well, you shouldn't be paying for the replacement engine so take the money for a new 1.4 and get whatever you like. A 2.0 would be fun

well if something like a screw has fallen in they are the ones who have had theinlet off. There has been problem after problem of late with them. I changed the catlast week and i looked at the exhaust that they fitted and the centre section was bent to the side so it couldn't have the fixings on to hold it andone of the boxes was only just hanging on by one rubber fixing as the other one was hanging off
