You lose all the years as far as I know, unless you have protected no claims. that makes no difference anyway because you still have the declare the accident, subsequently making your premium higher anyway.

Even if you have them protected you can only have 2 claims in 5 years with some companys or 2 in 3 years. Not sure what happens if you have 3 claims maybe back to 3 years no claims or something...

my mum can have as many accidents a as she wants a year and always have her no claims bonus, which sounds stupid but then when you have like 10 plus years i guess you deserve it really

surely her premium won't be that low if she keeps having crashes though. he premium would go up but she would have 10 years no claims.

which basically defeats the object tbh

depends how many you have and who you are with, some insurers will only dock you a certain ammount of years, thats usually when you have a stupid high number though.

I think 7 is maximum your allowed these days. Any accident (unless protected) would drop you to 5. It's usually about 2 years per claim but as usual with the insurance lottery it depends on clauses of who your with.

I have 10 years no claims but have been driving for 5

its a very touchy , loosley monitered subject really. no one has a real answer of how it "works" , it varies with diff companies and imo is a lot of crap ! and its messy for people who dont understand it

yeah m8, think you'd have zero now. I'd ask them but I think for most cases it's 2 years per claim.
