Hey all, i tightened up my driveshaft nuts and the play went away! but now the bloody wheel aint turning! do i need washers on the back of the wheel bearing where it meets the cv joint? i looked behind and it looks like the cv joint is touching the steering knuckle.

How tight have you done it?
The only washer is the one behind the hub nut on the end of the shaft.

Try loosening it off, and tightening it exactly how haynes says(20nm, and 90deg iirc)
I always do mine to 200nm and have never had a problem.

right ive found out why its not turning. As i do the hub nut up tight it pulls the cv joint through which is what should happen but before the cv joint touches the bearing it hits the steering knuckle. which outer cv joint should i use cos although the cv fits the hub its too big for the knuckle.

Cheack out my amazing paint skills:

Hopefully this will show you exactly what i mean.

there a thin washer behind that goes on the cv before it goes into the hub and another thicker one on the outside underneath the nut.

didnt get any washers other than the nut washers. is there any other option, like buying abs joints and removing the abs ring.

why not just throw a washer in there and be done with it. prob get from most good hardware shops or anyone with a lathe will turn a couple out in about 2 minutes
