Come July 1st they are banning smoking in public places in England, just wondering how the smokers of Off Day expect to deal with it?
I mean its not all that bad if you can still smoke outside and stuff, will be nice to be able to sit in a pub without breathing in other peoples smoke though. Apparently its a £50 fine for being caught fag-in-hand, but whos going to police this ? the fag patrol?

Yip, the fag police have already pulled me twice in the van to give me stickers and check i don't smoke etc, which was then followed by a workplace visit where they gave us more stickers, a few posters, some leaflets and asked to see our no smoking policy.
Don't have one so they have told us to draught one up and they'll come out and visit again

I don't smoke anymore, so it won't affect me, but I don't 100% agree with it being a blanket national ban, IMO, it should have been the choice of the landlord of the pub.
You'd know which pubs were smoking pubs, so you could avoid them (the same as you'd avoid a gay bar)
*awaits fag joke*

So it's a total waste of police time, money and staff then? Well done government.

Will this make cigarettes cheaper or more expensive?

I've read all sorts about the ban in Scotland, one interview with a lad said he'd go to a club and all his mates would jump outside to smoke, and because he didnt want to be in the club alone he would go out with them and started a smoking habit, only in scotland.

Neither, but umbrellas and bus stops will rocket in value.

Really though robin if it was the choice of the landlord they would all choose to be a smoking pub... They could be a non-smoking pub now if they wanted but they aren't purely because it alienates customers.
the ban doesnt really affect me anyway so i dont Care

It's outdoors though, so doesn't qualify for the ban.

The pro's far out way the con's up here, you don't wake up stinking of smoke people go outside for a chat with fellow smokers as well.
One of the worst points is being in a student bar, you no longer have the smoke to mask the great unclean.

There's 5 pubs in the village I live in, 3 are already smoke free, and have been since last year some time, they have as much custom as the others, because the smokers go in the smokey pubs, the non smokers go in the smoke free ones.

That's a bit silly, 3 sides means you can still get wet, which means it's outside
Anyway, doesn't matter to me anymore

Not sure tbh, think it'll be one of those things that smokers (i.e. me) will have to learn to live with. Probs won;t be a problem over the summer as will be outside. I haven't had a cigarette since monday afternoon though

Oh we dont have any non-smoking pubs round here, And tbh it's MANCHESTER so 90% of places wont abide by it anyway
