My car that is meant to be on show keeps breaking down! Really frustrating as I wanted to take it last year but it wasn't ready in time!
What is more frustrating is I have no idea whats wrong with it!
It was driving for a while, and occasionally the revs would just start dropping and opening the throttle didnt seem to make any difference, I would have to drop down a gear or two to get it revving again, or it would just die and breakdown.
Now it isnt starting, fuel pump is definitely working and I took all the plugs out to see if they were sparking, and I can see the tiniest little spark between the electrodes. Cant figure out what else it could be, the car has been running rich ever since I put it all together after rebuilding the engine, but can see why that would cause problems now.
Any suggestions? I really dont want to take it to Vauxhall because they are utterly useless!

hasnt got a CAT on it at the moment, swapped air temp sensor recently, has spark. I just managed to get it running after cleaning up the coil pack. I reckon some of the loom is getting moisture in it or something, looks worn anyway, so I think I'm going to make a stronger grounding loom, and repace a few other sections too.

if your only getting a little spark, thats your problem, you need to find why the spark is weak..

EML is permanently on due to fitting mantzel and having to remove EGR valve and secondary air pump.

coolent temp sensor faulty?
That would cause it to run rich and splutter and stall due to over fueling. When this happend to mine it would also not restart straight away. This happening?

Yeah that sounds about right, and Wrighty I would take it to vauxhall but in my previous experience with them I would never take another car back there.
Rob- I was under the impression if you unplugged anything from the loom the EML would come on?

Even if there is one permanant fault (no EGR) then it will still record others.
Do the paper clip test

Yeah, I have done the paperclip test but unfortunately that hasnt really helped me. A couple of sensors are getting low or high voltages, and i know that means they are getting abnormal readings, but I wouldn't know how to go about rectifying them!
