looking at replacing the oil cooler on a c20let corsa. does the posistion of the couplings make any differnce to the cooling effect, ie if they are both on the left side of the cooler. also would this cause the oil to drain from the cooler every time you shut the engine down?

if the oil cooler is mounted lower than the sandwich plate the oil will stay in it.as for the cooling question i dont think it would make a difference but im not sure

will be mounted up behind the grill. suppose can try and angle the hoses up over the rad to stop it draining.

was thinking maybe it wouldnt cool as effectively as a mocal one etc which flow the oil across the matrix and out the other side

also would the oil need to flow in a perticular direction? meaning (i assume) into the bottom coupling, up through the cooler and exit through the top one so the oil is building up in the cooler rather than sinking through it or wouldnt this make a difference?

(hope that makes sense)

oh i can see what you mean now about where it exits and yeh a mocal one which enters one end and exits the other probably would be better.

think ile have a proper measure of what i can fit and then look for one to suit. cant see the fronterra one playing nicely although must be designed how it is for a reason. atleast i got another intercooler for £20 so all is not wasted

can just about see from this pic where it will foul the fan. cant really move it behind the rad tho as turbo clearence is super tight.

think its because of my manifold design. also fan sits near top of rad to alow room for the intercooler. tbh its beyond me how you managed to shoe horn it all in as intercooler is also larger than mine. that mocal 10row in the pic is what i currently using but wont to utilise the space under and next to it, almost right up to the fan. the fronterra one i was talking about at first look seems to look like it would be a nice fit but the cooling effect is obviously the most important.

dont know, it does sort of just go in liek it was meant to be there. making a proper removable slam panel shortly to make the rad fit a touch better and also make it easier to work on.

your radiator definitely sits further forward at the bottom than mine does. i could sit the oil cooler on the front panel on mine with no real problems
