some guy at work has a nice blue Audi TT, see it every week or so

never thought nothing of it

went to a car show today.......there it is parked up amongst several kit cars - odd

goes over, has a look, 100% standard except a personal plate - odd

looks round show. comes back and has a look inside.....roll cage and no rear seats - must be a track car I think

then reads the magazine on the dash.....and hold on......thats not an audi TT dash, they are not audi tt seats..........its a fucking VW SCIROCCO with a hand built fibreglass audi TT shell on it and cage!!!

Never knew what it was 'till i read the mag feature. Bloke said he had no experience in doing anything like this before, just bought an £80 car, a waterdamaged TT (when they had just come out) and spent 4 years making a mould of it and building it up from nothing!! AMAZING work - bit pointless but £2500 was what it cost him in the long run!

have a few pics here but its just a standard TT. only 20mm difference in wheels base too. He hasnt interested in doing engine work or dash/seats for some reason. Even had to make his own window mechanism as the TT windows go down at a different angle to the VW ones!! Mad!

He is going to be doing a DB9 next.....I look forward to it

it was odd, as things like the roof rack clips were there, but not functional as it was just made from fibreglass

he still has the moulds he made under his bed

Shell Shocked!
What's so special about this Audi TT? well, it used to be a VW scirocco for starters...

To be totally honest we really didn't have a clue what to expect. The editor sends up to Redcar to feature a Scirocco that had apparently been converted into an Audi TT, surely the first of its kind. On top of this the owner had done all the work himself in his garage - and it wasn't even April 1st.
