Best off going to a body shop, getting a quote and sending it to the bloke who hit you and ask him for the cash as yes any claim will up your premium.

Don't go near your insurance at all and then you have nothing to claim, no note of it, and won't be charged extra next year because of it.

Try it out! You have to declaire it on your insurance because you've had an accident. It shouldn't affect your premium though as it wasn't your fault. TBH though with insurance companies making money wherever they can, it wouldn't surprise me if it went up!

Thats bollocks. I got hit by a land rover many moons ago. When ringing for a quote, they said any accidents, I said yes. Told them what happened and she said that isn't counted.

Well i know people who have had accidents that weren't their fault see there insurance go up. I know i'd prefer to do it myself and get the bodyshop to make it a bit expensive and pocket some of the cash!

If you do not phone your insurance at all you have never had a claim or a crash as far as they are concerned.

Would you tell them you had a crash if you crashed and got it fixed yourself?

Thats if you make a claim.

If you have not made a claim, which is the case with the original post, the other guy is claiming.

Just read the accident bit, I would phone them up toclarify their position but the other guy making a claim is most definitely not you claiming.

Yeah I understand that - Tesco have worded it pretty badly - it usually asks if you've been involved with accidents at fault or not.
