to skim my head check all my valves were sealing and i found a problem with my thermostat wich may have been why my head gasket went in the first place anyway i took a couple of pics.

coscast heads are supposed to give 12bhp i heard. do you know if this is true?

thermostat will be related to the head gasket going. that's what happened to mine

the rubber gasket had come away inside and was sort of blocking it

don't know mate.i would'nt have thought so.i have heard they are slightly better on power but i wouldnt have thought that much.this engine was rolling road tested and it produced 151bhp.thats not bad considering its standard.but i dont know how good the rolling road was

yeh ive heard they are a better head.but someone also said they make slightly more power too

as said the coscast heads are less prone to going porous, they dont give any power increase at all but they are defiantely worth having.

no coscast head dont give any power increases...
only reason alot of people think that is due to that they are fitted to pre-cat 20xe's which have more power due to no cat...
difference's between coscast and gm are :-
different oil galleries, which helps stop them going porus
and 3mm bigger ports iirc

if its a cos cast, engine code will more than likely be 20xe,
but everyone just call's all of them c20xe's
|
