looking to buy a new car but undecided what to buy. I could either buy a post 97 Sport with 64k but headgasket problem or a pre 97 sport fully working for an extra £275, but has done 110k. both x14xe engines. Either way would have GSi kit and softstars eventually

I would go for the post, because head gaskets are easy to do and would still be cheaper then the pre 97 car.

Probably go for the post mate, less miles etc and the interior will be nicer. Then use the 275 to fix it

cheers mate will look into the post 97 i think headgasket parts are about 150ish from vaux aren't they?
