leaving the corsa as a 1400, and not fitting the 1600 (yet)

thinking of just removing my head, fitting the 'work in progress' ported and polished c16xe cylinder head and dbilas throttle bodies

rather than removing the complete engine, and replacing it with the 1600 thats half built

see how much power i get (hopely 150bhp with cams) then fit the 1600 later on at some point. Main reason is because i can swap heads over in a weekend, and have back up and running straight away, and dont have to remove the engine!!!!

Be patient and do it properly, do the 1.6 as you wont get nowhere near 150 bhp JR had a 136 bhp 1.4 and that cost mega bucks with an Omex chucked in.

after having a lil trip in gavin's gsi (now with ported and polished head ) it had great top end pull, but didn't pick up as quick as mine low down (do to lightened flywheel) it wasn't that much quicker, well felt anyway

well hopeing for 125bhp when the powerbox turns up this week, and when i get the superchip working

so with throttle bodies, 264cams and ported/polished head, id fort 150bhp was achievable

should have just had it ported not polished as this had less than desireable effects.

Jr's spec was:

Mantzel power box
ported head
schriek 264 cams
Piper Verniers
Ford coil pack
pocketed pistons
titanium valve caps and springs
SBD manfold (which was massive)
Blueflame system
running an Omex with a 7.5k rev limit mapped by Owen developments on one of the most accurate RR n country only got 136 bhp

to be honest mate the hassle of changing heads while the block is still in the car, you would be better off just building up your 1600 engine and then fitting that in one go.

but can do it within 10 hours if all goes well, and only cost a gasket set + bolts (£40)

but then would have to fit arp bolts, so more money and time spent there

I think iv been talked out of it already!

I doubt that u will see 150bhp with just these on a X14XE egine...definitely on a X16XE engine it would be more than possible! I would rather expect 135bhp maximum...
