When they ask if you smoke, or more specifically had a cig in the past 5 minutes, how does that actually effect the test?

Cigarette smoke has carbon monoxide in it. That reduces the ammount of oxygen in your blood. Maybe that effects the test?

But I mean. Would it mean if you had had a drink would it come up as clean? or vice versa?
