A woman just told us it is and we shouldn't have it on.

Needless to say she got laughed out of the office and the radio cranked up a little.

Is it actually illegal - Or is she of din?

There is sumit about rights etc in offices...

But i think that only applies to playing that over a PA system or over hold music

I would've thought radio was ok, where as there would be an issue in broadcasting CD's etc in public.

hmmm, not sure about a radio but in my old office all of us used to have mp3 players and personal radios, no body seem to care, but that wasn't an open plan office.

i work in an open plan office/studio and listen to radio one all day, but i listen to it on headphones via the internet.

Afaik it isn't illegal, we all pay for the radio somehow via our taxes/government pay. So don't see why it would be illegal?

Not supposed to play the radio in the shop where we work, apparently we need a licence.

My mum's old work could only have local radio on, not Radio 1 etc

if customers come in then you need a broadcast licence i think. when i worked at dominoes the guys in store werent allowed any music on because or a tiny part at the front for customers

isnt it something to do with public viewing licence or along those lines

i know we couldnt have an xbox at work for a similar reason

Is illegal when the public hear it IIRC.

eg. if you own a car garage, you can't play the radio as the public will hear the songs....if you want to you need to buy a licence from some organisation.

You can get a fine for it IIRC.

You do need entertainment licences but I doubt you do in an office...

Just googled for the licenses RFM use and you will need it in the office/workplace, Price guide is as follows...

"Music at workstations is charged on a unit basis – per day, per half-hour of music
use, per unit of 25 employees (or part thereof)." And thats 7.33 pence

If you can make sence of that, Lemmie know

£7.33 pence per half hour if you have 25 employees or less.

£234 a month ish if my (Very very very poor) maths skills are correct (20 day working month 9-5)
