I get bad shin splints when walking a long way or running on a treadmill/hard ground. So tend to do bike/rowing for cardio.

I joined the gym again after 6months on Tuesday. Went down with my mate who's fairly huge and he had me in there for 2 hours! TOO MUCH TOO SOON!

I was hurting yesterday, but today i'm absolutely fucked I can't move my arms above my head. I actually couldn't put my tie on this morning before work

22miles how long did that take you Snowy?

I did 202020 (20 mins aerobics, 20 step and 20 toning) and it nearly killed me because i decided for some reason to put my step 2 blocks up instead of having it on the floor

shouldnt do anymore than around 40mins ish on weights, pointless as after that you'll gain no positive effect from it and just hurt yourself!!

Well..he's huge so i'll just follow his lead anyway...

Surely that doesn't apply if you're working different muscle groups? i.e. If you work working on your chest for 40mins then anymore is a waste then fair play, but what if you did 30mins chest, 30mins back, 30mins arms, etc ??

Something to do with the lactic (??) acid that builds up so not sure if it effects different groups regardless of what your working on. Maybe, maybe not!

I just dont like running @ all so i cycle to the gym and back 4 times a week (about 3miles total) I occasionally cycle to work (5miles total)

If i skip the gym or dont cycle up due to weather or whatever ill do half hour on the bag (boxing) now that really works up a sweat.

I disagree as it completely depends on your ability / strength and what type of weights your doing. If you push yourself too hard and do too heavy a weight without warmup, without letting your body get used to doing weights then yes you will hurt yourself.

Ive been training for 3yrs, ive never "Hurt Myself" due to excessive weight training. Eat right, warmup propperly and workout propperly and theres no reason why you cant do weights for x amount of time if you have the strength and ability to do it.

what cosmo is saying is you don't need to spend that much time at the gym, better off with more specific exercises on muscle groups split into different days etc.

Nah, i was just impressed that's all.

Not really been on gym bikes, but if the tolerance is set to the same as a road going pedal bike then that's not too bad going!
