if i was to get 17's do you have to grind all the arches (front/back) and will 40mm drop look ok/work properly? am i best getting a bodyshop to do the work or is it easy enough to do myself?

I have 17"s on my corsa b. Its dropped 40mm but im not sure wot work has been done to the arches as i didnt do it and the girl that sold me the car didnt no anything. It looks well, but does rub occassionally especially out back roads with a full car.
