Looks like you can pick one up for under 20k these days, my dad is very interested. They seem a bit too good though, twin turbocharged v8, 370bhp... So whats wrong with them?

Huge running costs they use Ferrari engines do they not? Someone I met on holiday used to work at Verdi's and mentioned Ferrari's and Maseratis cost silly money to run.
Remeber its proberly of the era before the Itallians knew what quality control was.
It all depends on how much it gets used I guess...

I think it was the last non- Ferrari engine they used, not sure though.

Yeah, the engine is pre-Ferrari, but the car was built at the Modena factory.

300 for oil nt including labour and just imagine how often it has to be changed and also things like gearbox oil and general servicing items all add up.
Also these cars are far from reliable you think an XE'd Corsa has problems.....
In all honesty if i had a comfy nest egg I would take the risk as it may pan out just fine.

For 20-25k id rather have an S2 elise/S1 exige or a noble M12 I think, just as much fun but without the expence!! Not sure how much of a dads car either is though

To be honest, I'd agree with Colin, if you're saying 'you can get them under 20k now' that seems like £20k would be the budget?
Spending all of the budget on a car which is going to be at the bottom of it's price band is a bad idea IMO.

As a cool every day car yes, as for something a bit special for the weekend no.....
I'd hedge my bets with a Tuscan or maybe a Cerbra, maybe a Ferrari 348 if you really wanted something exotic in the garrage.

Aye, I saw the old top gear from i think late 03/early 04 with the revised one and it was much much improved but the 1st one was absolutely shocking, interior was awful for a car like that and the flappy paddle gearbox was atrocious...
